It is difficult to describe the feeling I had when the first student eased their way into their boat at the BC Aquatic Center. We all cheered and there was an overwhelming feeling… of success, like seeing the impossible. They were so excited, full of joy and astonishment. They created an object– a boat, – a mode of transportation that has shaped history, a boat, – a symbol of adventure and freedom! As each team paddled around the pool with their crafted oars, I think we all had the feeling that we could accomplish anything. Students got to be designers and collaborators.
